Exorcism of Anneliese Michel

I would like to remind all of you to confirm your subscription once you’ve entered your email address in my blog. There would be a confirmation email send to you which you need to confirm.I’m still working on the charity mail blast, so please hold on.

It’s Friday. I have another article ready, but couldn’t be posted because of some reasons. On this holy Friday, let’s talk about exorcism and people who had been possessed.

I’m going to specifically focus on their voice this time, and when time comes by, I would explain about other criteria’s about people who get possessed. The thing about people who get possessed was most of them has this kind of eerie voice, and mysteriously, sometimes they can talk in a language they’ve never learned before. Let us a look at a video clip featuring a local girl here in Malaysia who was possessed. Listen to her voice.

Anyway, my favorite ghost movie of all time is “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”. I’m not sure if you’ve watched the movie yet, but if you haven’t, you’ve got to watch the most awesome movie ever made based on true story. The story was about Anneliese Michel, who was a German Catholic woman said to be possessed by demons and subsequently underwent an exorcism. The whole exorcism was captured on audio and of course, it’s indeed scary.

The following are some pictures of Anneliese Michel before, during, and after her exorcism sessions. She subsequently died as a result of extreme malnutrition and dehydration.

The conversation during the exorcism had been recorded and you can listen to it below. Note how high and how low the pitch of her voice gets at times. She was said to be possessed by 6 demons at the same time. All 6 voices could be heard in-between the recording when the exorcism took place.

Be prepared. May her soul RIP.

What do you think? A case of extreme lack of medical attention or something supernatural that can’t be explained?

Prayer and medicine together are fine, but mental illness is a horrible scourge that desperately needs proper treatment. Considering the case of Annaliese Michel, I’ll have to acknowledge my own limited expertise: she suffered from epilepsy and depression, and possibly more besides. I’m not a psychiatrist. I know one person with petit mal, which is nothing like as drastic as Annaliese’s condition – but which definitely needed medication: epilepsy creates electrical storms in the brain which can cause permanent damage there, and it’s crucial to keep fits to a minimum; encouraging someone with epilepsy to do otherwise is encouraging them to court injury. I know a lot of people with depression, though. The frightening thing is, it can look a bit like demonic possession; I’ve said elsewhere that when dealing with fiction, at least, the idea of depression as a possessing force – ‘parasite personality’ is the phrase I used – is grimly convincing. I’ve seen people I love lose it when their depression overwhelmed them, and it’s a scary thing to watch. Body language changes. The face contorts into a different and worrying expression. The voice changes tone. Empathy breaks, emotion overwhelms the sufferer and isolates them from their normal selves and from those around them, leaving an observer to feel as if there are two different realities in the room, one normal and one malign. At its most severe, depression is a very frightening sight, and considering it a possessing force, metaphorically at least, is not as wild an idea as it might sound if you haven’t seen it. And that’s just depression on its own, never mind depression combined with epilepsy and who knows what else.

    Mental illness?
How come this happens mostly to religious people? and thus the holy people are called in to ‘help’.

Have you heard of any strong willed, confidant, or etheist person get possessed?
    Just food for thought.

i believe its something paranormal going on here..even if someone has “split-personality”, that does not explain the changes in her voice…scary though

Yes. Anneliese and her three sisters were raised in a strict Catholic family. Her father Josef had considered training as a priest and three of her aunts were nuns.Four years before Anneliese was born, her mother gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Martha. As a result, her mother suffered great shame and was forced to wear a black veil on her wedding day. When Anneliese was a child, her mother encouraged her to atone for the sins of illegitimacy through fervent devotion. When Anneliese’s sister Martha died at the age of eight during an operation to remove a kidney tumor, this likely only increased Anneliese’s desire to do penance for her mother.

As she grew older, Anneliese continued to suffer for the sins of others. When she was a teenager, Anneliese slept on a bare stone floor to atone for the sins of wayward priests and drug addicts, who could be observed sleeping on the hard ground at the local train station. In college at West Germany’s University of Würzburg, she hung pictures of saints on her dorm room walls, kept a holy-water font near the door, and regularly prayed the Rosary. Even close to her death she spoke of dying to atone for the sins of the wayward youth and renegade priests.

Some experts believe that this is possible. Psychiatrists who testified during the trial spoke about the “Doctrinaire Induction”, which in relation to Anneliese explains that she accepted her behavior as a form of demonic possession, mainly because the exorcists introduced much of the idea to her and reinforced it with each exorcism.

Hello. I have just posted below, then saw how old this chat is. I am at the bottom if you read a little about me.

I was not indoctrinated, I didn’t find a faith until nearly 18 years old. But from the age of 3-4, things that are known to spiritual experts as ways in for demonic forces had been happening (against my will). I then continued to be sucked into more and more things that are known “demonic doorways.” And remember, I didn’t have a faith. I continued my life this way until December 2009, opening more and more of these known doorways. It wasn’t until after I knew I was in trouble that I turned to my Christian faith and started the (ongoing) process of shutting these doors. It was only then on doing research I saw that all these things I had been doing were indeed demonic doorways. I hadn’t even believed in demons and evil spirits until then.

Over the years I acted in increasingly severe ways that are listed on many different lists of “demonic symptoms” as listed by experts. Until I read all this I had no idea. No medication or therapy ever helped. I am on medication now but it doesn’t stop how I feel, although since turning fully to my Christian faith my troubles are somewhat reduced. I was put on meds in Jan 1994, and they never helped. But in less than a year of being in faith I have truly began being delivered. I firmly believe that mine, and many peoples conditions are not medical, but spiritual. A classic symptom of demon oppression/possession is that they often experience true fear when around people of faith. I long to settle into a church but something doesn’t like me going to Church, it gets very frightened. It is not a phobia. I love my Christian friends. But considering demons are th opposite of our good Lord, they cannot stand being around people who love Him so much.

I understand how people are cynical because man has grown cynical and turned away from faith. But dis belief does not automatically make it a falsehood. It is just a doubt. As I said in my post below, in the past I have exhibited many symptoms classified as possession, and it is important to remember that serious possession as Analise’s was is not common. There are degrees of it. I have studied it myself somewhat. Please do not feel sorry for me because I am truly not insane. I am spiritual and I live in a spiritual world. I do not need pity because my faith beats my demons every time. I truly believe that if I had of been introduced to faith much earlier then I would not have had the problems I have had.

This is the problem of being overly religious or forced to abide to hypocritical moral values. These restrictions actually creates “rebellious emotions” which are not outwardly noticeable by others, because it is suppressed. Gradually this emotion accumulate and break out in a freaking way. Often the sufferer battles with his or her conscience. To rebel is against their taught values but to defy is their inner wish.

Director William Friedkin’s film The Exorcist was released in Germany in 1974, two years prior to the audio tapings of the exorcisms in which we hear Anneliese’s recorded voice. Even though her voice is quite chilling, it bares a striking resemblance to the growling, barking, and inhuman voice of Linda Blair from Friedkin’s film. This has caused some people to conclude that Anneliese was simply mimicking what she had seen in the film, if she had in fact seen the film. Upon its release in Germany, the movie created a sort of paranormal hysteria that swept the nation. European Psychiatrists reported an increase of obsessive ideas among their patients. The movie however, does not provide explanation for the years prior to 1974, in which she was experiencing numerous other afflictions that she and those close to her had attributed to demonic possession.

The psychiatrists, whom had been ordered to testify by the court, spoke about the “Doctrinaire Induction”. They said that the priests had provided Anneliese with the contents of her psychotic behavior. Consequentially, they claimed, she later accepted her behavior as a form of demonic possession. They also offered that Anneliese’s unsettled sexual development, along with her diagnosed Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, had influenced the psychosis. The verdict was considered by many as not as harsh as they expected. Anneliese’s parents, as well as the exorcists, were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and omitting first aid. They were sentenced to 6 months in jail and probation. The verdict included the opinion of the court that the accused should have helped by taking care of the medical treatment that the girl needed, but instead, their use of naive practices aggrivated Anneliese’s already poor constitution.

A commission of the German Bishop-Conference later declared that Anneliese Michel was not possessed, however, this did not keep believers from supporting her struggles, and it was because so many believed in her that Anneliese’s body did not find peace with death. Her corpse was exhumed eleven and a half years after her burial, only to confirm that it had decayed as would have been expected under normal circumstances. Today, her grave remains a place of pilgrimage for rosary-praying and for those who believe that Anneliese Michel bravely fought the devil.

@Puspa – Go ahead and watch it I would say. It’s just a clip after all. :)

I loved the “Exorcism of Emily Rose” movie and I did researched about that movie as well, until I came to know about Anneliese’s real life story. Until now, her story is still unexplainable with parties from both sides of religious experts and medical experts debating about the issue.

If you ask me, I would rather say it is somewhat demonic (supernatural) bro. We do hear stories of a young boy talking and behaving like a dead old man from the same village and a girl claiming that she was re-incarnated after her death during WWII. Although all these may not be ‘demonic’ in nature, but they are somewhat supernatural bro.

All I can say is, I pray to GOD ALMIGHTY, that what had happened to Anneliese during her lifetime should not happen to anybody in this world. It can be neither mental illness nor supernatural, but the pain is infinite and unbearable. Live the life as it is. Enjoy every moment of the life. Being religious is fine but the limits are there.

Hi guys and girls. Interested to see this blog. Exorcism of E.R is definitely an amazing film. Obviously I was not present at the originating story so I cannot say “yes it is genuine,” but I certainly believe totally that it is more than possible. I have, and still am living it, though not to Emilies extent (thank God!!)

I have a list of mental health diagnoses as long as my arm, yet not only has medical science helped me one bit, but my last shrink stated I am not insane. Indeed, so many people have said, when I tell them I am “mentally ill”, they say every time, “you seem fine to me.” My problems are very much internal and as I said I am not anywhere near as bad as poor Emily was. But in my past, from a very young age, I was sucked into things that are known ways for demonic strongholds to find a way in, I can tick many of those boxes. I have over the years, and still do to a certain extent exhibit many of the symptoms of demonic possesion/oppression (there is a difference). I have sufered both. No doctor or pill has ever helped me. The only thing that ever has helped is prayer. But even then I get symptoms. Often when people are praying for me, something inside gets VERY scared. I want to be prayed for to be free of this, so it is not my fear. It truly is an internal fear. When I try to read my Bible I can’t stop spitting, and it isn’t conscious as I am often 10 minutes into it before I realise I have been spitting. People here may think I am crazy. I am not. I can hold very coherant conversations. But there are definitely spiritual forces in this world, and many not nice ones.

In past times it was widely accepted that many conditions, and not just mental health, were caused by demons and evil spirits. It is only as man has grown cynical that we have turned away from the real problem. I am desperate to finally get some proper deliverence ministry to get free from this curse, but knowing how many charlatons are in this world I want to make sure I get the real thing. I KNOW that many of my problems are spiritual because the doorways were opened by others as a young child, and then I continued to invite them in. (Again aware of maybe sounding crazy to some, but I don’t care because I am confident in my faith and beliefs).

I studied the spiritual realmes for many years in the occult (which is basically working with this stuff). I am not the only one into all the stuff I was that simply behaved truly “possessed.” And while not completely delivered from it yet, the more prayers people are saying for me over time, the freer I am becoming. I just want to tie up the loose ends now. Medication has done nothing. Faith is the one thing that has got me through. That would imply to me that it is not a medical, but a spiritual condition.

I am a Catholic. I was born Catholic and grew up practising, but high school years were depressed sometimes and looking back i think it was the conflict beetween teenage lust which was a sin and faith in the Holy God who wanted purity. When I was 22 I took a “job” in a Benedictine Abbey, but I smelled a trap set by GOD. It was just that. I was very glad I took that job. I knew God was calling and there were very many mysterious things coming my way even before that job. I had a lot of time during the day and I began to study the Benedictine history and pray.. and increasingly pray and fast and do penance. In a VERY short version I went from raged frustration with not knowing if this faith was worth keeping to charging in totally to find out. Gladly God WAS at the other side of the inspirition to search. I DID experience a snarling pissed off evil spirit that became evident as it lost its grip on my soul. What a freaking relief. That was the tiniest detail. I have got to tell the rest of it somehow. I took a vision I had of someone at prayer directly to that person and asked them if they said this stupid thing to God. This was probably the only verifiable phenomena I could present, but there were many others that God gave me to give me confidence for putting everything into seeking Him. NONE of it is new. All of it is like plagiarism from the BIBLE and I think all of it is what the Catholic church teaches. If its not I have plenty of them to dump on me everytime I make a misstep.
Now this story of Annaliese, is a very sad and strange one. It really sounds like possession. Possession itself is not the hardest thing for me to understand, but that it happened to such an apparently pious person. A girl with a devotion to penance for the sins of others. God is absolutely fair. Just Merciful. you can’t underestimate the Graciousness of God. He lets his holy witnesses suffer all kinds of injustice. They get eaten by wild animals and tried and found guilty of anything the twisted justice of this world wants and they get sentenced and put to death just for the hell of it. So why in the history of all the holy witnesses to God and all the ways that God may be Glorified by the suffering of his martyrs, His witnesses…. how was this girl allowed to suffer possession by the enemy? This just seems totally unfair. God doesn’t owe us an answer. Ours is to seek HIM and don’t miss. HE can do a favor, but even His favors are often kept secret. Jesus Christ Have mercy on the souls of the faithful departed. Blood of Christ protect us. The day of the Lord is coming on the heavens and every soul will remark in awe and many shall shudder and seek in vain for a place to hide, and few will leap and rejoice to the fulfillment of their hope. I will see it again. God spare me.
